Graham Foster

Graham Foster
Biography
Professor Foster is the Professor of Hepatology at Queen Mary, University of London and a consultant hepatologist at The Royal London Hospital in East London where he was recently appointed to develop a new academic liver unit. He was formerly the Reader in Hepatology at Imperial College School of Medicine at St Mary's and a consultant hepatologist at St Mary's Hospital, London. He trained in Medicine at Oxford and London Universities in the 1980s and completed a PhD in Molecular Biology in 1992. He is the sub-editor of The Journal of Viral Hepatitis and has published widely in the field of viral liver disease. He is a member of a number of patients advocacy groups, including the Haemophilia Society and Action on Hepatitis C and has written two books on viral liver disease. Dr Foster runs a clinical research programme studying the natural history and treatment of chronic hepatitis C infection and he manages a laboratory based research group investigating the effects of the different Type I interferons.
